Sliedrecht Synagogue

This synagogue was built in 1814 for the Jews of Sliedrecht and Hardinxveld-Giessendam. After all Jewish inhabitants of Sliedrecht were murdered in the Holocaust, the synagogue was sold and used as a storage place.

Because of the dyke reinforcement it was the plan to demolish the synagogue. It was then decided to move and rebuild is, 90 meters to the west.

the building is now (partly) used for Jewish prayer services. In the building there is a memorial space for the murdered Jews from the river area.
