The original central station of Warsaw was constructed between 1932 and 1939 by the Polish authorities. It was bombed during the battle of Warsaw in 1939 and repaired shortly after by the Germans. It was again damaged during the Warsaw Uprising in 1944 and eventually blown up by the retreating German army in 1945.
The station today:
The old central station was never rebuild after the war and a park is currently standing on the spot where the station once stood. The new central station stands next to this park.
