Villa Friedrich Paulus

The villa on the Preußstraße 10 was built at the beginning of the 20th century for the Martin family.
In 1946 the house was confiscated and until 1947 there was housing for high Soviet officers.
From 1948 the villa served as a guest residence of the state government.
From 1953 until his death in 1957 Field Marshal Friedrich Paulus lived in the house.
Paulus, who was taken prisoner by the Russians after the German loss in the battle of Stalingrad.
A precondition for his release was that he would live in East Germany.
