Ophemert General Cemetery contains two German war graves from the Second World War. After the war (almost) all German war graves in the Netherlands were taken to the War Cemetery in Ysselsteyn. The family of these two victims did not want the graves moved and bought the graves.
Leutnant Günther Engelbert Heinrich Ahls was killed in Ophemert on 29 September 1944.
Obergefeiter Bruno Josef Moskalik was one of the 7 German soldiers who drowned at Ophemert on 16 October 1944 when their rowing boat (which they used for patrols on the other side of the Waal) was sabotaged by men from Dreumel.
