On the wall of the Da Vinci College in Leiden a text has been placed in tribute to the poet Robert Desnos.
Robert Desnos was active in the French Resistance in World War II.
He was arrested on 22-02-1944 by the Gestapo and transferred to Auschwitz. Later he was moved to the camps in Buchenwald, Flossenbürg and also to Theresienstadt.
Robert Desnos died just after the liberation on 05-06-1945 and is buried at Cimetiére de Montpernasse in Paris.
