War Memorial La Bastiaise Normanby

La Bastiaise was a corvette of the French Navy. The ship was built by the Smiths Dock Company in their Middlesbrough shipyard, but was sunk by a mine on 22 June 1940 during sea trials. Forty-three French sailors died, along with eighteen shipyard employees.

The memorial is a plaque giving the names of the dead, with eighteen trees to commemorate the eighteen dock workers
