Memorial Battle of Soya Strait

This memorial commemorates the sinking of the USS Wahoo on 11 October 1943 by the Imperial Japanese Marine, after it sunk several Japanese ships in a two week raid. All of the 80 crew members sunk with their submarine to the bottom of the sea. The Japanese losses are also mentioned on the memorial.
