The Churchyard of Gooreind contains two Commonwealth burials. These are a British and a Canadian serviceman who died during the liberation of Gooreind in October 1944. The graves lie in a small field of honour at the end of the churchyard, behind the graves a Belgian flag is erected. Very remarkable of these graves is that the stones are wide apart and the position of the stones is a bit skewed, they are both facing a person who stands in the center of the field of honour watching the graves.
