This plaque commemorates Aubrey John Carter D.S.O. who died ay Ypres in the First World War.

In proud and ever loving memory of my husband Major Aubrey John Carter D.S.O. who fell in action at the 1st battle of Ypres Nov. 4th 1914 while in command of the 1st battalion loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Jan. 18th 1872. Nov. 4th 1914. "He has bought his eternity with a little hour, and is not dead"
