A monument that can be seen at the cemetery in Okkenbroek. It commemorates all those who fell due to war, including the six civilian casualties who fell near Okkenbroek during the liberation on 9-4-1945.
Every year from the village church, just after 8 o'clock, people walk to the cemetery to remember these dead with roses on their graves.
The monument was unveiled on April 9, 2015, on the occasion of 70 years of liberation in Okkenbroek.

The first six people died when they got hit by Canadian grenades after they left the cellar of farmhouse Boode that caught fire on April 9th 1945, when Canadians assumed having to do with Germans.
Johan Groteboer died when an allied airplane shot him sitting on a threshing machine.
