Memorial to the Polish and German Anti-Fascists

This memorial is dedicated to the Polish soldiers who fell during the Second World War and the German resistance fighters who gave their lives in the struggle against national socialism. The wall behind the memorial bears the famous motto of Tadeusz Kościuszko, "For your freedom and ours," in Polish (Za waszą i naszą wolność) and German (Für eure und unsere Freiheit).

In May 1945, a war cemetery was established in the Volkspark Friedrichshain. Polish soldiers of the 1st Polish Army who fell in the Battle of Berlin were buried here. After the war, all burials were relocated at the Siekierki war cemetery.
