Stalin Line - Casemate "Fighter"

This casemate was constructed in the '30s as component of the KaUR (Karelskij Ukrepljenyj Rajon), the northern part of the Stalin line.

It was undermined and destroyed by the Finnish army in 1941, but was later rebuilt by the Red Army in the period 1942-1943. It withstood many attacks during the war and is a famous sight in the region. A memorial plaque commemorates the Soviet soldiers who defended this casemate between 1941 and 1944.
