Bunker Steinfeld - Regelbau 114a

You will find this bunker on the Westwall Wanderweg around the village. You literally walk over it. The entire bunker (remains) is now in the ground. Bunker type Regelbau 114a. Apparently part of WH281a. On March 20, 1945 it was put out of action by the Americans and later blown up.

Special about this bunker is that it stands in front of the nearby Hocker line. Bunkers are normally positioned behind the line. According to tradition, this bunker was built on the personal orders of Hitler after one of his visits to Steinfeld to inspect the Westwall (1938 and 1939).
