Monument to seven (7) Armenians executed after a failed escape attempt from off Goeree Overflakkee. The names of three of these men have been traced after research by investigative journalist Joris Versteeg. Of the others, only their first names are known. Furthermore, this investigation revealed that one of the men was not of Armenian, but of Jewish Belarusian or Ukrainian origin and who had posed as Armenian.
They were convicted by the same ‘Standgericht’ through which the ten from Renesse were also sentenced, and executed on 9 December 1944 on the Middelharnis harbour pier.
