Sgt Barry Davies, an ex Army Aircorp Beaver pilot, was involved in the raising of awareness and funds to display a memorial plaque and separate information sign explaining the catastrophic disaster and sad demise of the crew. The plaque is mounted on a wall along the river Maas/Meuse close to the point of impact. The pilot steered the fully loaded bomber away from the village, the explosion altered the course of the river, but limited damage to the surrounding buildings.
To raise funds he and a colleague sold rubber wristbands at every opportunity. Some funding came from the UK Bomber Command organisation. The solemn unveiling ceremony was televised and well attended by veterans and current dignitaries from both the UK and their German counterparts. Sgt Davies passed away in 2023, as did his colleaguem whose name is unknown.
