Memorial 16th Infantry Regiment Combat Medics

This stone is located within the tidal zone of Omaha Beach below the Normandy American Cemetery and displays the names of the medics who landed with the 16th Infantry Regiment on that section of the beach including Charles Shay. The stone also identifies those that died on 6 June 1944.

"At this rock SSgt. Arnold "Ray" Lambert set up the first casualty collection point at Omaha Beach. In honour of the -Combat Medics- men who placed their lives on the line to save their comrads. Their professionalism, dedication and heroism give their units the confidence to prevail in the face of extraordinary danger on D-day.
