Durchgangslager 121 Prusków was a German transit camp opened on 6 August 1944 to house the evacuees expelled from the burning Warsaw, during and after the large scale Polish uprising. Approximately 650,000 people passed through the Pruszków camp. A couple of thousands of them died in this camp due the terrible living conditions. Durchgangslager 121 was closed in December 1944.
The camp today:
There is not much left of the camp these days, but one of the original camp guard towers is still standing. In front of this tower is a wall, containing a Polish text which informs bystanders of the existance of the camp.
