This is the old cantonal court building in Helmond. It was built specifically for that purpose and commissioned on December 28, 1906. On October 26, 1945, the first session of Tribunal Helmond was held after the Second World War. The purpose of the tribunal was to try NSB members and other traitors arrested after the war. Officially, the Tribunal was the Fifth Chamber of the Tribunal in 't Arrondissement 's-Hertogenbosch.
The tribunal was chaired by either G.W. Bijlsma or L.F. Veugelers. Other members of the tribunal were the gentlemen Coenen, Hoekx, Van Gotum, Roelofs, Hoefnagels, Strijbosch, Swinkels, Noten and Smits.
