On 8 January 1945, there was an attack of the resistance on the prison in the Doelstraat. They managed to liberate Lenie Dicke who was a member of the resistance. Two German soldiers were killed. The escape route was through the gate at the Munt (picture 1). As a reprisal measurement, the house of the Dicke family at the Prinsenstraat was set on fire (picture 3). The location where this house stood, is still empty (picture 2).
