Apeldoornsche Bosch Remembrance Centre

The Apeldoornsche Bosch was a Jewish-psychiatric institution that was established from 1909 to 1943 on the Zutphensestraat in Apeldoorn, on the spot where now s Heeren Loo, location Groot Schuylenburg is housed. The Remembrance Center is located in the former home of Philip Fuldauer, pedagogue and director of the Paedagogium Achisomog, the children's and youth department of Het Apeldoornsche Bosch.

An exhibition has been set up on the ground floor of the house that tells the story of the flourishing institution that was once Het Apeldoornsche Bosch and of the disaster that took place there in January 1943. Philip Fuldauer is one of the seven people who bring the Apeldoornsche Bosch story to life in the villa. Other people include Greta Swart, Mischa Hillesum and Pauline Vomberg. On the first floor, history is brought to current events. In four rooms, groups of children and young people use the history of Het Apeldoornsche Bosch to work on themes such as freedom, friendship, security and flights. In the coming years, various activities and forms of dialogue will focus on the meaning of these concepts in the past and present. With projects for and with primary education, secondary education, MBO and HBO, the memory center is explicitly also a place for children and young people.

The memorial center was opened on January 26, 2020.
