Geul-line Casemate 39

This is Casemate 39 of the Geul-Line. This casemate of type S-3 was part of the border line of the Dutch Geul-Line

The territorial commander in Southern Limburg constructed two defense lines, namely a border line (4 S-3 casemates) and a delay line (30 S-3 casemates).

This casemate was used on 10 May 1940 for the defense of the eastern border. It was manned by the 6th Reserve Border-company Zuid-Limburg, part of the 2nd Batallion of the 37th Regiment Infantry. The casemate was armed with light MGs.
