Canada Memorial Meppel

This memorial commemorates the liberation of Meppel by the Canadian Toronto Scottish Regiment.

On the memorial is this text:

On 13 April 1945, The Toronto Scottish Regiment
(Machine Gun) from Toronto, Canada entered Meppel to
thunderoud cheers. After five years of occupation its
citizens were free once again. In their kilts of Hoddon Grey,
the officers and men of the Toronto Scottish voluntarily
left their loved ones to fight tyranny in the name of world
peace. They faithfully served Canada and the people of
The Netherlands. Dedicated to the memory of all who
serve freedom's cause

On the back of the monument is this text:

Bonded forever by deeds and dreams
