Belgian War Graves Lede

The cemetery of Lede contains the grave of a civilian victim of the First World War. It’s the grave of DE PAUW Victor who was executed by the Germans at Aalst on 29 September 1914.

There are also contains Belgian burials of the Second World War. These are the graves of BLONDEEL Philemon, fallen at Koekelare on 27 May 1940; WAUTERS Edgard, fallen at Zwijnaarde on 20 May 1940; D’HONDT Lodewijk, fallen at Kuurne in 1940 and Jozef Roelandt, veteran and war invalid, born in 1904 and died in 1945.

There is also the grave of the family VAN DEN ABBEELE-ROELANDT. Nine members of the same family perished in an air attack at Merelbeke on 10 April 1944. The victims were VAN DEN ABBEELE Omer (55 years), ROELANDT Alma ( 48 years), VAN DEN ABBEELE Paul (10 years), VAN DEN ABBEELE Gilberte (11 years), VAN DEN ABBEELE Godelieve (13 years), VAN DEN ABBEELE Willy (14 years), VAN DEN ABBEELE Jacqueline (17 years) and VAN DEN ABBEELE Yolande (18 years).
