War Memorial Belgian Railway Society Visé

The monument is located in front of the railroadstation and commemorates the personnel of the National Company of Belgian Railways / Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Belge (SNCB) of Visé who died in World War I and World War II.

Worldwar I

JAMINET J.M.D., age between 56 and 60, carpenter in the service of the railroads, died as a result of mistreatment and torture by the Germans.

JOB F.J., 64, railroad employee, shot with his son Henri by the Germans on August 5th, 1914, He is buried at the Lorette cemetery near Visé. He is also remembered on the monument aux morts at Visé.

JOB H.F., age 24, like his father François employee of the railroads, and also shot with his father by the Germans on August 5th, 1914, He is buried on the cemetery of Lorette near Visé. He is also remembered on the monument aux morts at Visé.

LAMBRECHT J.F.H., age 55, signaler, died in captivity on October 1th, 1914.

LECARME J.H., age 24, engineer with the Belgian railroads, shot by the Germans at Berneau on August 5th, 1914. He is buried at the Lorette cemetery near Visé. He is also remembered with his father on the monument aux morts at Visé.

LECARME O.J., age 49, living in Visé, killed by the Germans at Beneau on August 5th 1914. He is buried on the Lorette cemetery near Visé. He is also remembered with his son on the monument aux morts at Visé.

LEERS J. (or Pierre Jean Joseph), age 49, stationmaster, killed by the Germans on August 5, 1914, He is buried on the cemetery of Lorette near Visé. He is also remembered on the monument aux morts at Visé.

PUTS André, age 66, from Mesch (NL), executed at Visé on August 4th, 1914. He is also remembered on the monument aux morts at Visé, and also on the stele on the old town hall of Moelingen.

Worldwar II

BOULANGER N.M., age 23, loader, arrested March 6th, 1944 for sabotage, and died while being transported to the Gross Strehlitz penal prison in occupied Poland.

DELREZ D., no data are known of him.

LAMMERETZ J., age 38, traindriver, member of the Resistance, died by dramatic accident while in action on August 18th, 1944 by a British bombing raid on the "German bridge" in Visé. He is buried in the Liège cemetery, Robermont.

MULLER J., age 26, temporary employee at the Visé railway station, deported as a political prisoner after being arrested on February 2nd, 1943, to Germany and died in Esterwegen (Niedersaksen) on May 12th, 1943.

PUTS M., age 22, loader, member of the resistance "Front de l'Indépence, F.I." and killed during a mission on Sept. 11th, 1944 in Fouron-St-Martin (B). One day before the liberation on September 12, 1944! He is buried at the Lorette cemetery near Visé. His tombstone also bears the letters of the resistance group he had joined, F.I. See photo 4.

(His tombstone bears the death date of Sept. 12th, 1944. Differences in dates is not uncommon during the chaos of the waryears. It is also possible that the death was not determined by a doctor until the 12th and therefore appeared on the death certificate).
