There are two plaques attached to the church tower of Wijk en Aalburg.
The first one commemorates the destruction of the church tower during the liberation of Wijk en Aalburg. Dutch text on the plaque (translated to English):
THIS TOWER IS
IN THE WINTER 1944-1945
DURING THE 2ND WORLD WAR
1940-1945
BY ENGLISH ARTILLERY FIRE
FROM LIBERATED AREAS
LARGELY DESTROYED.
THE RESTORATION OF THE
BUILDING TOOK PLACE IN
1954 AND 1955.
The second one commemorates the 100th anniversary of the victory on Napoleon and the foundation of the Kingdom of The Netherlands in 1813.
