The Battle of Horseshoe Bend (also known as Tohopeka, Cholocco Litabixbee, or The Horseshoe) took place on 27 March 1814. This was the last battle of the Creek War, coinciding with the War of 1812 (the Indians were armed by the British). During the battle, the Red Stick Indians were defeated by an army led by General Andrew Jackson. More than 800 Native Americans were killed, the highest number in one battle in United States history.
In the Visitor Center is an exhibition about the battle.
