This information sign (Historical Marker) provides information about the Battle of Talladega that took place here on 9 November 1813, during the Creek War, which coincided with the War of 1812 (the Indians were armed by the British). In the battle, 300 Red Stick Indians were killed and 110 were injured. Of the Tennessee Militia, commanded by General Andrew Jackson, 15 soldiers were killed and 85 were wounded.
