Grave of Major General Robert Ross

Major General Robert Ross was responsible for the attack on Washington DC and the burning of the government buildings on 24 August 1814. He was killed in action in the Battle of Baltimore, which took place from 12 to 15 September 1814. His body was first to be brought to Ireland. to be buried there, but because of the preparations for the Battle of New Orleans, that turned out to be impossible. He was buried here on 29 September 1814.
He was also a successful commander in the Coalition Wars.
