This fort was constructed in 1840 to defend the port of Sevastopol. "Constantine" was turned into an important stronghold in June 1942. The garrison, consisted of 70 men, held the fort for 3 days and repulsed many German assaults so that the last ships with soldiers, munition and refugees could escape the port.
