This fort was constructed between 1843 and 1846 to defend the port of Sevastopol. During the end phase of the siege of Sevastopol (1941-1942), the Soviets held the fort for 3 days and repulsed many German assaults so that the last ships with soldiers, munition and refugees could escape the port.
The fort today:
It serves as touristic sight.
