Since May 2020, a permanent memorial has been placed at the church in Blijham on the Oosteinde for the five crew members of the English bomber who were killed on 29-09-1941.

The English Vickers Wellington bomber X9910 KO-Y was hit by a German fighter plane on the way back from a bombing raid on Hamburg. The plane exploded near the church.
The spire of the church was hit and burned down completely.
Of the six crew members died:

The sixth crew member jumped out of the plane with his parachute and survived the crash.
