Via Dolorasa stands for the road the German army followed during the first war months, from Gemmenich at the German border until they were stopped at the Yser. The memorial is composed of compressed war material.
Memorial stone in Rotselaar in memory of BODEN Joseph, soldier in the 5th Line Regiment.
Hit by a shell shrapnel, he died on September 12, 1914 at the age of 23 on the banks of the Dijle in Rotselaar. Joseph Hyacinthe Emile Jules Boden was born on January 22, 1891 in Waremme. He was from the 1911 batch. At the time of the war he was a student and unmarried. He probably lived in Berchem (Antwerp) himself, because he is mentioned as a dead parishioner of the Sint-Norbertus parish.
His father was a pharmacist in Waremme. As early as 1915, the body was to be excavated in the cemetery of Rotselaar and placed in the family crypt in the cemetery of Waremme.
We also find his name on the plaque commemorating the fallen former students of the "Ecole moyenne de l'Etat" and on the war memorial of the municipality of Waremme.
