War Memorial Hakendover

The 1914-1918 war memorial at the church in Hakendover is inscribed:
"HAEKENDOVER / TO HIS CHILDREN / 1914-1918".

Of the eleven names on the front of the monument, 9 were actually killed and one was a executed civilian.

LOOSEN Juliaan, soldier 12th Line, Soltau (D) 30 March 1918
NAGELS Julius, soldier 23rd Line, Diksmuide 8 July 1917
PRESSE Petrus, soldier 24th Line, Staden 1 October 1918
RENIERS Frans, soldier 15th Line, De Panne 20 July 1917
VOLLON Henricus, soldier 2nd Carabiniers, Stuivekenskerke 31 October 1914
COLOGNE Livinus, civilian shot by the Germans at Hakendover on August 21, 1914.


Also attached to the monument is a plaque commemorating the military victims of the Second World War.. The names on the monument: VANDEVELDE Kamiel, KINNAER Louis, MOENS Emiel.
