This memorial plaque is a tribute to the 171 men who were arrested by the German occupier between 1916 and 1918 and taken to northern France. There they worked in inhuman conditions for the German army. Eight of them died of hardship and mistreatment. Those who returned were drawn for life.
Initiators for this memorial plaque were the grandsons of two deportees.
Inauguration: June 24, 2018
