The Great War memorial in Polignano a Mare, Puglia. The names of the men who died are inscribed on panels at the back of the memorial. Names of those men who were killed or lost during WW2 have also been added. Finally, there is a marble tablet that commemorates the lives of 24 Italian servicemen who lost their lives while serving in recent deployments to the Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan on peace-keeping duties, including the 9 carabinieri killed in a suicide attack on their post in Nasiriyah, south of Baghdad on 12 November 2003.
