For:
Hendrik Lodewijk van Roijen
Hendrik Lodewijk van Roijen was a colonel when the threat of war increased. He was appointed commander in the 1st engineer command. After the Dutch surrender he became involved in the Goudse Ordedienst (OD), where he became district commander. In the spring of 1942, a large number of OD resistance fighters were arrested by the Germans. Van Roijen was arrested on March 13. He was imprisoned in Scheveningen for months, after which the Germans transferred him to Amersfoort camp. Van Roijen was shot on December 29, 1942 by the Germans on the Leusderheide, along with thirty other resistance fighters. He was 57 years old.
