Dutch War Graves Roman Catholic Cemetery Berkel-Enschot

On the Roman Catholic Cemetery St. Willibrordus in Berkel-Enschot is one Dutch war grave of a soldier from the Second World War. This is the grave of Sergeant Adrianus Josephus Denissen. Denissen was wounded on May 11th 1940 in Alblasserdam and died a day later in the hospital of Gorinchem. On June 4th 1940 he was reburied at this site, out of respect, his comrades placed this monument on his grave.

On this Cemetery is also a grave of the brother of Josephus Adrianus Denissen, he also died during the Second World War.

These three victims are commemorated in the Memorial Chapel in Berkel-Enschot.

Chaplain Wilhelmus Denissen was killed in Goirle shortly after the liberation when he stepped on a German land mine. On this Cemetery is also a grave of the brother of Chaplain Denissen, he also died during the Second World War.

The cemetery contains also the grave of the following person, who fought for The Netherlands and who gave his life in the war in Afghanistan and/or Operation Enduring Freedom:

10 July 2007, 1st Lieutenant Tom A. W. Krist, aged 24
