Dutch War Graves Roman Catholic Cemetery Oirschot

On the Roman Catholic Cemetery St. Petrus in Oirschot are three Dutch war graves from the Second World War.

Bernardus Wilhelmus Johannes Schut.

Bernard himself was really no resistance fighter but was however connected because he was the brother of resistance fighter Hein Schut, who helped with supplying the Americans and the detention of Germans. In October 1944 Bernard and his family sought shelter in the farm of brother Hein in Oisterwijk. Bernard helped brother Hein to collect wood to make a safe shelter in the farmhouse, when they suddenly met Germans who said they were deserters and sought shelter. Hein and Bernard told to help these men with hiding, the Germans later that day came back with strengthening and surrounded the farm, Hein and Bernard were arrested. During an escape attempt by Bernard he was shot and left there in the woods. Hein was taken prisoner and was executed one day later, he is buried in the Dutch War Cemetery in Loenen.

Martinus Bernardus Petrus Arnoldus Vlemminx

Martinus Vlemminx was active in the Dutch Domestic Forces (N.B.S.). Bernard died on October 1th 1944 in Boxtel.

Buried in the same grave is also the brother of Bernard, who was also buried at a young age during the Second World War, it is not known whether he was a victim of the war or not.

For the brothers a monument is erected in Oisterwijk, the Resistance Memorial Oisterwijk.
