Memory Route World War ll Church Tower Gilzed Destroyed

In the Municipality of Gilze and Rijen is a memory route created in memory of the Second World War.
In a number of places there is a sign with a description of what happened at that place in the Second World War.


CHURCH TOWER DESTROYED

Gilze Church destroyed with freedom in sight
On Friday October 27, 1944, Gilze was liberated during the advance to the airport. The Germans destroyed the tower and much of the church at the last minute.
