Gruppenunterstand Type VF2a
This design from the Verstärkte Feldmässige bunker series is intended for housing a Gruppe, the smallest German unit consisting of 10 soldiers. The walls and roof were made of one and a half meters of unreinforced concrete instead of the usual one meter of reinforced concrete. Trenches were cut around the doorway to provide a steel door at a later stage.
This bunker is now furnished with an exhibition about archaeological finds and can be viewed freely.
This bunker is part of the German radarposition Tiger from World War II. This site is now housed in a museum. More information about this museum can be found at https://bunkersterschelling.nl/
