"Victims of V1 in Leuven 29.11.1944"
Leuven was liberated on September 4, 1944. Bombs from the Allied camp were no longer to be expected. The front lines quickly moved towards the German border and new war suffering was no longer expected. Before the war formally ended, however, Leuven would be hit three more times by German V-bombs.
On November 29, 1944, a V-1 falls into the gardens of the University's Pharmaceutical Institute. Seven are dead and more than 60 injured. Thirty-four houses have been destroyed and two hundred and fifty-seven are badly damaged.
