Dutch War Graves Protestant Cemetery Horssen

The Protestant Cemetery in Horssen contains two Dutch war graves and one Commonwealth war grave.

The two Dutch war graves belong to soldiers of the Prinses Irene Brigade. They were shot dead by Germans on 7 October 1944, around 02:00 at night, while on patrol over the Waalband dike near the Florastraat in Boven-Leeuwen.
Marius Kroon was a farmhand emigrated to Argentina who enlisted in England in 1941 and was assigned to the Princess Irene Brigade.
Raymond Arnóti was in Morocco in the early 1940s, without valid papers. On the advice of the Dutch Embassy, he reported for service in England with the Princess Irene Brigade.

Both men are mentioned on this memorial, there is a special plaque on the side showing their names and photographs.

Warrant Officer Leslie John Billen of the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve is also buried here. He was the bomb aimer of a Stirling IV bomber, which crashed near the Dieden Uiterdijk near Megen on 21 September 1944 around 16:00.
