Memorial for the train bombardment at Mariënheem
On February 25, 1945, Allied pilots accidentally took a train full of evacuees, on their way from Limburg to Friesland, under fire near the village. The pilots assumed that the train was full of German troops. Four occupants were killed and eighty injured in the bombardment.
The memorial consists of a piece of railway with the remains of a railway carriage axle.
