In 1942 the St. Clemens in Nuenen was painted white and the Maria image of N. v. Eyben was placed on the wall.
The caption in Latin is a reference to the war;
"BeLLi CresCente fVrore Virginis HanC effigiem greX renoVaVit Devote"
translated this corresponds to;
"As the fury of war grew, the flock with renewed devotion placed this image of the Virgin"
Roman numerals, added 1942, are included in the Latin quote.
The plaque hangs right on the wall when you enter the church.
