Memorial J-L. Hollenfeltz

Jean Hollenfeltz was 16 years old when the First World War broke out. He then helped take care of the injured, something that would later determine his choice of medicine.
In the Second World War he was best known for his leading resistance actions. This eventually turned fatal.
He was arrested by the Germans on August 24, 1944 after an act of sabotage against a shop in the Grand'rue and Rue de Virton. There, homemade bombs exploded. The damage was minor, but the panic was great. The Germans arrest dozens of Arlon residents.
Dr. Hollenfeltz was shot in the back in the middle of the street in the early hours of August 25, 1944.
