War Memorial St. Joris and the Dragon Druten

This memorial commemorates the soldiers from Druten who have died on the Grebbeberg in May 1940, in the later course of the Second World War and later wars.

On the memorial is this Dutch text (translated to English):

WHO FELL ON THE GREBBE
DID NOT STAND THE DRAGON
BUT DONATED THE INSPIRE
THE CONTINUED JOB
HIDDEN FROM WHOM FOUGHT
AGAINST THIS ANGRY VIOLENCE
IN FIRE OF DEAD MEMBERS
TILL THE MONSTER WAS BEATEN.
AND THE PEOPLE REGAINED LIFE
OFF DOOM AND DEEPEST DISTRESS.
O FREEDOM, US REGIVEN,
BY THEIR DEATHS
