Liberation Memorial Beaumont 1st Infantry Division

Memorial of the 1st Infantry Division in Beaumont.
This hangs at the entrance of the Mairie (town hall). This hamlet was liberated on June 7, 1944 at 5:05 pm by units of 1st bat. 26inf.reg. under the direction of C.O Seitz. In the meadows seen on the right there was German artillery. The coast is seen to the left in the photo. Beaumont is about 3 km inland from Omaha Beach in the commune of St Honorine des Pertes.
