Memorial to the First World War on the side wall of the abbey church of Saint-Pierre, near the bridge over the Meuse.
In the middle hangs a crucified Christ with "INRI" above it
To the left of the crucifix is a French text (translated below)
"Passer-by
Honor the memory of the martyrs whose names are written on this stone.
On Sunday 23 August 1914, the soldiers of the 104th and 133rd regiments of Saxony invaded the town of Hastière-par-Dela.
They set fire to most of the houses and killed 20 of its residents without any prior cause for their crime.
May the names of these good citizens, cowardly burned, and the crime of which they were the victims, remain in the memory forever. "
On the right side next to the crucifix are the 20 names of the victims of 23 August 1914, some with their profession.
At the bottom: "Rest in peace"
"Jesus Crucified, have mercy on us"
