Memorial First World War Eggewaartskapelle

In the church of St. John the Baptist Beheading, next to the entrance, hangs a rectangular white marble plaque with carved frame for the military dead of the First World War.

"Grateful Tribute from the population of Eggewaertscappelle to their veterans who died in the great war
1914 - 1918 "

Among them 10 names with the date that they were killed or killed.

"Goodbye fallen and mourned soldiers
we will always remember your bravery
Though you are dead, our benes will not leave you
Right and freedom for which you wish to donate your blood
were evidences and traces of the old Flemish blood
that flowed into the redemption of our dear homeland
