Announcement "Relais Sacré"
The beginning of World War I was commemorated in 2014, 100 years ago.
Various commemorations were organized, among others by the National Federation of Veterans. For example, a torch relay race was organized throughout Belgium.
"The torch symbolizes memory, brotherhood and respect for the dead. It also symbolizes the transfer of this memory from generation to generation so that it does not disappear. All generations should remember the soldiers who gave their lives so that we could live in peace ". The "Holy Flame" passed through the country.
The residents were informed through small posters when exactly the torch came through their village.
